Respect for the Natural Order – Indigenous Cumulative Effects 101

Indigenous Cumulative Effects 101

Indigenous Cumulative Effects 101 introduces learners to Indigenous perspectives on cumulative effects and the knowledge systems, values, relationships, and governance approaches that inform how cumulative effects are understood and addressed.

Throughout the course, learners will explore themes including Indigenous ways of knowing and being, Indigenous science and approaches to cumulative effects, relationship building, and Indigenous jurisdiction and transformative governance.

Beginning with Indigenous ways of knowing and being, the course considers how Indigenous understandings of cumulative effects extend beyond conventional environmental and regulatory frameworks to include relationships among land, culture, community, spirituality, rights, governance, and well-being.

Through teachings, examples, reflection activities, and knowledge checks, learners are encouraged to consider cumulative effects from a holistic and Indigenous-centred perspective.
