The Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects (ICCE) is seeking an Inuk (Inuit) Board Member from Inuit Nunangat or Northern Canada to help guide and strengthen our Indigenous-led organization serving First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities across Canada.

The Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects (ICCE) is seeking passionate individuals like you to join its Board of Directors.
As a member of ICCE Board of Directors, you will:
- Empower Indigenous communities in a pivotal role, guiding an Indigenous-led organization while directly impacting the future of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities across Canada, including communities in Inuit Nunangat and the North.
- Contribute to innovative community-led initiatives through decision-making, setting policy, and influencing how Indigenous communities enhance their capacity for resilience.
- Bring northern and Inuit perspectives, lived experience, and cultural knowledge to Board discussions and strategic priorities.
- Guide a team of passionate leaders and experts committed to advancing Indigenous knowledge and fostering community-driven solutions.
- Provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight to help ICCE achieve its mission of enhancing technical and scientific capacity within Indigenous communities.
- Leverage and grow your existing network to share knowledge and experiences, ensuring Indigenous perspectives are at the forefront of environmental, social, and economic decision-making.
About ICCE
The Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects (ICCE) is a national independent, non-political organization led by Indigenous people. ICCE is dedicated to a community-first approach to support Indigenous communities in managing social, cultural, health, environmental, and economic issues related to cumulative effects. We aim to empower community-based approaches through culturally relevant assessment, monitoring and management, using both Indigenous and Western knowledge systems: Two-Eyed Seeing approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and governance, helping to establish and monitor the ICCE vision, mission and goals.
- Develop and support policies that guide the organization toward achieving its objectives.
- Participate actively in Board meetings (minimum of four per year) and contribute to at least one committee or ICCE initiative.
- Ensure transparency, accountability and ethical leadership in all ICCE activities.
- Engage with members and the broader community to represent their interests and build positive relationships.
- Support the Executive Director in achieving operational excellence, ensuring that Indigenous community priorities are central to the actions of ICCE.
- Assist in securing resources and funding to sustain ICCE programs and initiatives. Monitor risks and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Competencies
Seeking Board Directors to contribute in some of the following capacities:
- Financial: Experience in or knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, and corporate finance. Preference is given to those with a professional designation.
- Legal: Understanding of the legal framework and aspects of issues, with a preference for lawyers registered to practice law in Canada.
- Human Resources: Familiarity with HR principles, employment law, labour standards, succession planning and compensation strategy.
- Risk Management: Knowledge of risk management strategies and the ability to critically assess potential opportunities and adverse effects.
- Governance and Strategy: Understanding of board governance, strategic planning and risk oversight.

Eligibility
- Must be First Nation, Inuit or Métis. Applicants are asked to identify their Indigenous identity in their cover letter.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into contracts.
- Must not have been found by a court to be mentally incompetent or hold the status of a bankrupt.
