The goal of the Metlakatla CEM Program is to protect, maintain and improve the condition of Metlakatla values over time. It focuses on a broad range of values: environmental, social/health, economic prosperity, cultural identity, governance which are influenced by past, present and future impacts. It is a tool to inform decision making in many areas such as treaty strategy, IBAs, land and marine planning, community services, EAs and regional planning. There are 4 phases that involve developing a framework, assessing values, determining triggers, and monitoring, management and mitigation. The CEM program received funding and will use towards program building and data management.
